WRE teamed with Berger/ABAM to develop the revised Interchange Yard for BNSF to interchange cars for Fort Lewis Deployments. The scope of work involved the demolishment of 15,333 TF of existing yard tracks, construction of 16,512 track feet of new yard, rehabilitation of 7,900 TF of existing; installation of new road crossing, construction of locomotive maintenance yard tracks and construction of new rail maintenance building. The rail maintenance building included in slab rail as well as rail maintenance pits for access under the locomotives. Rail Design Engineer for all aspect of the rail portion of the design. The project was successfully designed in a compressed time schedule and under a tight budget. The team coordinated with the USACE and the Army on the scope of work, various design alternatives and the final design concept. Coordinated with BNSF Seattle Engineering on the final design approval. $14.6M estimated construction cost (2008 bid).
